Quebec has said goodbye to the Blond Demon since Monday morning, when dozens of dignitaries and citizens flock to the statue of the former hockey player near the Videotron Center to sign the condolence register opened by the City of Quebec.

Mayor Bruno Marchand took the time to put his signature in the large tribute book to Guy Lafleur, Monday noon. The white marquee provided for this purpose is installed in the commemorative alley of Place Jean-Béliveau, just in front of the statue of Lafleur who wore the uniform of the Quebec Remparts.
Mr. Marchand praised the player's great "closeness" to fans as well as his authenticity and resilience, which allowed him to have a phenomenal career, despite a less than expected start in the NHL.
“I saw him [play] here at the Colosseum. I still remember the day he announced he would be a Nord. What pride it was for the Nordiques fans. What a snub it was to say, “Guy Lafleur will now wear a blue vest with the big N.” It was a lot of great games."
