Mayor Bruno Marchand took the time to put his signature in the large tribute book to Guy Lafleur, Monday noon. The white marquee provided for this purpose is installed in the commemorative alley of Place Jean-Béliveau, just in front of the statue of Lafleur who wore the uniform of the Quebec Remparts.

Mr. Marchand praised the player's great "closeness" to fans as well as his authenticity and resilience, which allowed him to have a phenomenal career, despite a less than expected start in the NHL.

“I saw him [play] here at the Colosseum. I still remember the day he announced he would be a Nord. What pride it was for the Nordiques fans. What a snub it was to say, “Guy Lafleur will now wear a blue vest with the big N.” It was a lot of great games."

The Minister responsible for the Capitale-Nationale, Geneviève Guilbault, has an unforgettable memory of Guy Lafleur, whom she had met in Lac-Mégantic, after the train tragedy that shook the city, when the Blond Demon came to bring comfort. to bereaved citizens.

“He was a calm, gentle, affable, generous man and I'm not sure if he understood how much good he did for people and the impact that his personality alone had. He had the aura of an idol, but he was fundamentally simple, generous, humble.
